Looks a clean decent car from the decsription and pics. Certainly worth a look id say.
Just be sure to check it out properly. And haggle a couple of hundred off the price as always.

Dont forget you can get a very well spec'd 4 with later engine etc for less than what thats advertised for. plus for 5000 it seems a tad overpriced, thats into e5 money, but i guess thats up to you, good luck with whatever you choose,,

Yeah im starting to see where you're coming from. Been sniffing around the internet a bit today and have seen a great many 4's for under £4000!!! There are a good few 5's in the region of £5000 so i think i'll try for a 5. The only problem is that they all seem to be pretty far south. Any that are up here seem to be a bit over priced. Of course if the guy drops his price a fair bit i may get his, but cant see him knocking £1000+ off :p

,( God dont let the distance put you off, if there is one or a couple you fancy abit away from you and you think you are getting a good deal go for it, i m in n.ireland and i went to england for my e4, and trust me that was a pain in the a,s,r,e from the early start to the 8 hour boat journey back with car and the 2hours that i had to travel to get boat etc etc, so yeah mate go for it is all i can say, let us all know how you got on with your search and pics are allways welcome too,

It wasn't that far from me to get my Evo8. Just Dumfries.

I'm in Perth so it would be about the same from Aberdeen to here that I went to the borders.

Distance aint an object mate if it's an evo.

If you have to journey down south for a good deal - just remember - youl pass or see subaru imprezza's about 30:1 ratio compared to evo's.

Sign of the times. Evo's are quality - imprezza's are now common as muck.

Best of luck.

Yeah, i've seen one in Dundee that takes my fancy. its a 5 and the guy wants £6500 for it. Think its over priced a bit but once the snow stops i'll hopefully get down to see it. Will keep you posted.

Dont forget that it may seem a higher price but if the condition is high enough it may be worth it.
I would rather pay a bit more and get a minter rather than get an average priced one which is tired.

SCOOBYS are like a sanitary towel EVERY muffs got 1 lol, like other people have said you would rather pay that litle bit extra for sumthing that has been well looked after and will not need much or nothing doing to it, also there are plenty of bargains to be had at the moment with the credit crunch etc, dont forget the more lines you cast the better chance of catching a good fish haha

LOOKS VERY NICE NOT SURE WHAT THAT C,,R,,A,,P WHITE THING IS BESIDE IT LOL,, IF YOU REALLY LIKED IT AND YOU CAN STRETCH TO IT WHY NOT TEST THE WATER WITH AN OFFER OF 6000 I THINK HE/SHE WOULD BE VERY TEMPTED, WHAT REALLY IS YOU LIMIT/BUDGET??

Think £6000 would be about it really, need to insure it as well. There are similar ones on ebay that have less miles on them and are £5500, but are much further away. Really like the black though, not many around up here :D

So a test drive will be in order soon. What should i look for? Any tips?

well to be honest im not 100% sure what i was looking at when i went to buy mine, my brother was with me and he is the 1 that knows about cars etc, we just looked for signs of rust - accident damage-i,e the likes of over spray etc, under side of motor, looked at service history and any reciepts/bills that were there for any parts etc that had been replaced, any signs of noises or smoke coming from car when driving, can you not take any1 with you that knows about evo's or just mechanics in general its a big help, but if you have time try alot before you buy, and like you said if 6000 is your max then why not look for awhile until you spot something a little cheaper but still a nice xample, then you can put the rest towards insurance,
