Weird noise :(

I've got a strange noise coming from what I thought was my alternator belt, but after applying some lube to it, it's still there. :sad:

It sounds abit like those old kettle's on the hob boiling :wtf::wtf:

It started at rally day and went away for a while and has come back, could it be bearing going on one of the pulleys?

is it aparant at idle too? and does it seem to get worse with higher revs?

Could be the actual pulleys that are dried out or the bearings in them are worn.

hi ya , as above really .

this might sounds silly,

but get your self a peice of hose / fuel pipe with around 10mm internal bore about 2to3foot long .

place one end on your ear and very carfully with the engine running move the other end of the hose around the belt / pulleys till you find the noise but dont let it touch .

the hose acts like a stethoscope and will make what ever is at the other end louder and easier to find .

i had the same problem and changed the belt....problem solved
