Usable fuels

I do try to use Vpower when i can, but at work there is only a BP and some Tescos' that sell super duper


are these considered ok for use in the evo?

yes thats fine to use.
prefer the v-power tho'
i heard tescos has a higher octane than v-power but this is not certain'

Yes Mr Lancer you heard right, they stock 99 RON and a survey conducted randomly across 27 Tesco filling stations by Trading Standards revealed that it is the potent stuff indeed.

Having said that, I have never used it in any of my Evo's but I fill up my MR2 GT-S all the time from the 5 ways Tesco.

A couple of months back a friend had his Pulsar tuned and the technician did say that the fuel was good as the results he had seen on the plot were healthy. He told the techy that it was Tesco's own and the techy said that it has been known to be reliable fuel.

I would prefer to stay on the fence for this one with regards to the Evo's

BP are only 97 RON, same as sainsburys so you should stick with tescos and Shell V-power

From my knowlege the Tesco's contain a high percentage of alchohol, thus having a lower calorific value

Quite right buddy, 5% Alcohol content which is dressed up as BIO-ETHANOL. Some thing that the Green Peace Chappies are very proud of as it is a sustainable resource

By the way, Tesco do not own the fuel out right, it is credited to them Via a supplier that they have a vested interest in by way of a stake in the business.

yeah i know, its suplied by greenergy

if they were to start selling ethanol based fuels (e85) id be fine with that, ill install more injectors and map it accordingly to increase the fuel flow (almosrr double for eth)

but not if there going to charge the same as petroleum with half the calorific value

the other concern with these increasingly ethanol based fuels tho, is that they will eat at regular fuel lines unless your using a neoprene based components in the fuel system

also eth is quite hydroscopic

that is why I would prefer to stay on the fence for this one but I keep dragging myself back LOL!!!

They are a little cheaper then VPOWER and the other brands out there with 97RON and they will go down further very soon (I hope) but if it is pinking that is the formulation requirement then they have done something good.

I do not think the ratio will increase over 5% any time soon, every one in the game is chasing BIO FUELS and the DERV product is the one they are all aiming to be on top of..............................FOR NOW ANYWAY

Not a very well known fact but the innovators in the Bio Fuel catagory were actually a well know UK Indian Foods Company that had a firm synthetically engineer Popadom Oil that could be used to fry the crispiest Popadoms.

It failed miserably and they were gobsmacked at the bill they had to pay. One of the team that engineered it suggested running it in their delivery lorries and it all started from there for us in the UK!!!

I have had a eureka moment Mr Lancer!

Why don't you run your tank until there is a bare minimum of fuel in it and then top up with 10L of VPower. Go back to your Garage and run an emissions test.

When it is down to bare minimum again, fly up to 5 ways and top up with 10L of 99RON.
Do the same test and lets see what happens. I would be interested in seeing if there are any benefits to filling up with 99RON as to me it is just fuel and nothing more. I can honestly say that between BP and VPower you can tell that VPower is the top dog. Texaco is better then BP too but not by much. As for the Tesco fuel, I just fill up and drive. I have never compared it in any way myself.

What are your thoughts on this buddy???

i could do that to see what results i get. when i do i will post up the results.
dont think there would be much or hardly any difference.
will put it to the test for now.

i prefer v-power. always used it & will continue to do so'
also im a v-power member & got the red flashy card. hehe'

stick with tesco 99 or vpower and you'll be fine (although tesco does go off quicker, so if the car gets parked up for longer periods then stick with vpower)



retuned a mates 6 the other day after a few mods and running tesco99 and managed to make quite a bit more power compared to his old tune which was on vpower (although I am thinking along the lines of that the original vpower in the tank was a bit crap)

Esso will do just fine. I personally give BP a miss every time. Tesco will have the super for sure. They just changed the name of it a week or so ago. It will have 99RON on the nozzle somewhere.
