Tyres, your thoughts...

What tyre's do you all run? I'm looking for some decent tyre's to suit the road. I'm unsure if I will put the car on track as I have a track orientated car already so just a bit of boost action when the roads allow it. The car is an Evo 8 GSR

Currently been looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD 2 Asymmetric, the Yoko Advan Sport V103 and may stretch to the Federal 595 RS-R. Should I be considering another option in my tyre line up?

depends on your budget mate?

there are some awesome yokohomas but really expensive, but for a mid range decent tyres thre are avon zz3's

Fallen 452 are a good tyre at reasonable price too

i had the yoko v103s on my type r and they gripped but a bit on the pricey side

Thanks for your input chaps. Ideally, I want to be looking around the region of £100 per tyre. I think i'd start to shed a tear or two if I spent much more than that :thinking:

probably gonna struggle for half decent ones for £100 fitted buddy

well, I have a friend that works at a tyre and can fit 4 eagle F1 GSD 2's for £410. So, the prices on camskill and rarerims is pretty much what I pay for the tyres fitted really. On the car at the minute are Kumho Ecsta Sport so nothing super special

yeah they awesome mate! Be better they the kumho's which are ment to be good for the money. My mate went from f1's to t1r's and hate's them. My cousin got f1's on he's gsi astra. Couldn't believe the grip! Went round corner's like my evo would on the shit tyre's. Which were on it when i bought it lol was looking at the kumho's and 452's as i haven't got the cash for f1's at the mo lol

Well I used to run the Michelin pilot sport 2 on my Evo. Truly awesome tyre ! Great in the wet and dry. Also used on a track and showed no signs of wear.
Mate of mine had toyo t1r on his Evo and it used to feel really squishy compaired to mine. Almost like the tyres were flat.

The next best to these is the good year f1 asymmetric which I not long fitted to my Evo. Not really used it much yet but first report feels good

if you can get the f1's supplied and fitted by your mate for only £410 quid then its a no brainer mate!

I have f1's on mine and like them (nitrogen filled too). Stick them on you wont regret it.

Some of the more rare brand he probably wontr have in stock anyway.

On my old car I used to have Ultrac Sessanta tyres. Thet were hard to get hold of but ace!

However, what's good for one car is not necessarily the best for another

If you've never tried the better tyres then you've known any different.

The trouble with the t1r is the very tall thin tread lines that move around during cornering etc that what makes the asymmetric so much better. Loads more tyre in contact with the road

that's pretty much bang on what mick said when he went to t1r's. And the noise is a lot louder when cornering at speed! He think's there pant's. He mite be along soon to share his wisdom lol

Ah yes, the T1R's. I have tried those tyres on my other car and also felt like the back end was wobbling around, there is far too much compliance in the walls of those tyres. I use to run Parada's as the budget king. I have always got on well with the Eagle F1's although they were the older style GSD3's but I've heard the Michelin pilot sport mentioned on several occasions too. I will also take a look at the Bridgestone s0001.
