Tyre advice

I'm looking for some advice on some mid range tyres, my friend has just had his Evo 8 serviced, to be honest it's his first 'fast' car and when he took it for service he got new tyres which the garage said are good for the car, anyway these tyres are nankans, are they any good?? Safe for serious driving?? Any advice appreciated please

yea they are fine as long as it doesnt rain

oh and keep an eye on the sidewalls cos the always used to split

i wouldnt fit them to a shopping trolly let alone an evo

I am personally a fan of Pirelli's, on my second set of Pzero Rosso's on the Evo, and did three sets on my previous car. Did 10,000 miles on my last set and they proved to be fantastic in wet and dry.

So would definitely be advising him to get them changed. What's best to go for do you think? he's got a standard gsr on a 55 plate

I run Michelin pilot sport 2 which are recommend to be about the best you can get but are not cheap

I find there ok in the wet plus gives the car a nice filling but if your not use to them they can be tricky but I like that, but each to there own

Nankangs are teflon tyres, ie non stick

Tyre choice will always depend on road conditions, type of driving, weather conditions and suspension setup. Tyres mentioned so far are all good in there own right, but normally it comes down to budget. That being said go for midrange and up on the cost side. Never ever go cheap on tyres or you'll find the bill more expensive than you realise when the inevitable happens

everybody will have there own opion, to cover wet, dry or both, if you can afford it, i wouldnt mess about, put Bridgestone pertenzas on, maybe not best wet tyre, maybe not best dry tire, but they ware well, grip well, both in wetand dry
