Turbosmart Dual Port BOV problem.... :-(

Power - 1.3bar boost / approx 340 BHP

BOV Part number - TS-0205-1020 (Turbosmart Dual Port EVO BOV)

(Stage One - uprated fuel pump, EVO VII actuator, High flow air filter, 3 port boost solenoid)



Hi Guys,

I have posted this on the Turbosmart forum but thought i would see if anyone off here had encountered the same problem?.

I have installed the BOV as a dual port ie Blow off + recirc whereas the original valve was 100% recirc

Ok so i have installed the valve correctly but for some reason however "hard" i adjust it it will always dump to atmosphere!! I spoke to Ben today at Eclipse and he is a top bloke and very helpful and he said if i adjust the BOV to full hardness it wont open/dump and then back it off a turn at a time until it does that would be the best way for an initial set up!!

That made perfect sense to me but as i say i adjust it to full hardness and it still dumps and is causing me idling issues!! basically when i dump the clutch the revs drop to 4-500 and set off my DEFI oil pressure alarm!!!



Has anyone else had this issue? i assumed the EVO specific valve came with a stronger spring to eradicate this very problem!!!

Do i need an even stiffer spring? its only running stage 1 so i would have though it should be fine!! (1.3 bar!!!)

Im a bit gutted as i was supposed to be getting the car mapped this week but that wont be happening now!!



Any advice much appreciated.

A stiffer spring may be needed as it may be old and warn or just been compressed to much and has lost its strength.
Either that or just run without and blank of the pipes in place of the BOV.
Mapping it should be fine as long as its holding the boost. Logging runs are done in 1 gear normally then all gears are checked including gear changes just to check everything.

Its basically a brand new item so the spring is good!!

I didnt really want to get it mapped if its not running absolutely spot on :-(

absolutely mate... a piece of piss to install so it cant be that!!

I would have thought a weak spring aswell but its basically as new and this is the proper EVO bov that Turbosmart sell rather then the universal jobbie!!

At nearly £300 new i shouldnt be having these issues!!!!

hi mate . check check and check again that this is fitted the right way round it easy to fit front to back .

if in doubt stick the old one back on and send it back it wont be the first or last time a new part comes fecket .

and no need to put off getting mapped ? stick the old one back on for that ??

Hi,

THe reason why i dont want to take the car to get it mapped with the old valve is because i have been told it will leak when the boost is raised therefore i wanted the car to exactly as its going to stay after its been mapped.

I have taken a couple of pics of the BOV fitted so you can see that ive fitted it correctly... please note that the jubilee clips are loose because the BOV was off the car and i quickly refitted it for these photos

Thanks for the help guys but with the help of Turbosmart I finally sussed it!!

basically the fella i bought it off had put the trumpet and the plumb back pipe on the wrong way around!! so i swapped them over and it works perfectly!!!
