turbo problems

hi all iam new to the evo scene so bare with me .ive got an evo 8 260 with a turbo fault while out in it i lost all boost and heard a rattle coming from the turbo. what i notice is a large clamp which is fitted in the middel of the turbo has come loose could this be the problem

If its where the turbo fits to the block I would say yes, pics would be good. What rev range is the rattle?

It sounds like that could be be problem but as above pictures would help alot.

Simple answer is yes
If you see any clamp loose then its gonna cause problems
Worst case is the turbo has seperated and damaged the blade/spindle. Meaning new turbo :(

thanks for the response all .think i buy new clamp first if not then a new turbo is this a difficult job ?

No swaping a turbo isn't a bad job at all really. I tend to take the manifold off aswell that seems to speed it up alot.

clamp can be changed with turbo in situ but its not ideal
remove the turbo even if your lucky and only need to change the clamp

ive allready took the radiator off to get some space. looking at the manifold the top bolt,s have good acess but the ones underneath look tricky to get to

From memory its just the manifold bolts, water and oil feeds, induction pipes ie to intercooler and air filter, oil return to the sump and unplug the o2 sensor. Think thats it from memory.
