Turbo blown???

the oil feed pipe was clear, the turbo went at about 6000rpm in 3rd gear on the new pit straight at silverstone

sounds like the turbo has over sped does the car have a boost leak as 1.8 to 1.5 should be fine all day long

I believe Andy's spot on, leaking actuator with the addition of a boost leak (which may have saved your engine) over worked the turbo.

Check all boost pipes, replace turbo and I would even consider replacing the recirculating dump valve.

Boost spike from a boost leak caused over boosting.
Combined with possible lack of oil feed due to track cornering.
Equals blown turbo....
