The pre rally day clean

My big clean started today.

Stage 1

Using all purpose cleaner and a small brush

Rear fog lights, boot lock and number plate securing tabs removed from boot lid so as to clean away the grime visible in the corners etc

Then all door shuts, boot and backs of doors side indicators removed and all other knooks and crannies cleaned with APC again and all jet washed off as I went.

Next after drying the car I applied some tardis tar remover to both sides and the rear of the car. Allowed to dwell. This was awesome stuff as you can actually see the tar spots desolve and start to run down the paint. I gave it a quick going over with the brush before jet washing off.

Then it was wash time and I used some dodo super natural shampoo to a bucket. Then jet wash it all off.

Boot lid cleansed with some lime prime an sealed with some auto glym super resin.

My weapons of choice

All purpose cleaner for door shuts trim joins and wheel arches and wheels etc

Then to remove the tar spots up the sides

Followed by a good wash

Then some per wax cleanser

Then the paint will be sealed

Then to finish

Why the autoglum ??? Fair play your trying. Be careful with the g101 Lee it's strOng stuff

Autoglym SRP is not a sealer, it is a polish and will remove paint. It does fill slight swirls and if left to go off will hide that light marring, but it is not a sealer. You need to try something else. My personal fav is Finish Kare #1000P:

You won't get the surface finish you want without a proper sealant Lee. It will also help the DoDo Juice Wax take properly.

think auto glym one is extra deep shine protection. Which is a sealer. Its got the black sq not red like the srp. Nearly bought both the other day for the show clean! But wasn't sure how good it was?

lee the autoglym has a slight cut to it there fore isnt any good as a sealer, if i had been you i'd have polished with autoglym, then pre wax cleaner then a couple of coats of wax,

if not dont bother with the autoglm, like the look of the car btw

lime prime is basically the same as srp both contain fillers, and with the apc dilute it to 4;1 1;1 is too strong:wtf:

Lee, are you looking to compete with Geoff for show car status, or are you looking just to have a good finish with a good wax layer to make washing easier? Depending on how you answer that question will depend on what you need to do. If you are looking to do a correction detail then it is more in depth with many more stages. If you are just looking for a protection detail then that is a different matter.

Are you attempting to do it by hand or do you have a rotary / DA polisher? If you are going to do it by hand then I would SRP polish it, clean off, SRP again and leave for 3 hours, lightly buff off then wax. Again, if doing it by hand do one panel at a time, and the weather needs to be dry and ideally warm for the SRP filler to work effectively. If you buff the SRP straight off then the filler will not set and you will be left with some marring.

Just some more thoughts and questions for you.
