Hi i'm after some advice. I have an evo4 and at first i thought the clutch was worn out but going through the paperwork it had a new one less than a thousand miles ago. The symptoms are the car drives fine but the minute the boost starts to come on in all of the gears the revs go shooting up. I have been told that this may be caused by the.rear diff having failed has anybody experianced this before? does anyone know a way i could check without having to have everything apart? Also there are no noises from anything and the clutch pedal also feels fine. Any ideas?

Fly wheel not changed

Could all cause premature failure of a new clutch.

Also depends on what New clutch was fitted??

This is one of the problems because it was done before i bought the car i don't have a clue what clutch it was as the receipt only says supply and fit 1 clutch so it isn't very informative. Plus i have no idea if he drove it everywhere like he stole it. To be honest im just looking for excuses not to have to change the clutch as all the work i do is on the freezing cold drive.

That would suggest clutch, it it were diff you would know about it when the sprockets start meshing and breaking up. For all you know he could have had a pony receipt drawn up or even replaced and launched it a few times 'because he has sold it now anyways'
