suitable replacement... evo 9?

Hello all,
I currently have a highly modified focus rs mk2, forged engine, big turbo the works.
However I am now looking for an evo 9 preferably fq320-340.
Could anyone tell me common things to look for and what to expect from this type of car?
My rs is no slouch when moving with 430bhp and 513lbft not at 500 due to standard clutch so do you think the evo will thrill? Anyone come from an rs to evo?

Obviously in terms of power, it'll be fairly disappointing, but getting the IX to 400 BHP can be done fairly easily. If you wanted closer to 450+ then you'll need to be looking at the kind of things you've done to your existing car, but it'll handle the 400 range ok.

If you're planning on modding it then getting a 320\340 etc doesn't make much of a difference, as the car will be remapped anyway, the different cars don't come with better parts or anything, it's just a different map, so don't pay a premium for a 340. The cars are pretty solid too, apart from the usual things to look for, check the AYC\ACD is working. There are three lights on the dash for the ACD modes tarmac, gravel and snow. When the car starts all three will light, then only the current mode will remain light. Go through all the modes and make sure the car drives for 10 minutes without all three lights coming on. If all three come on there is something wrong with the system.

That's a lot of power/torque for a front wheel drive do you problems putting

Having been in a 400bhp+ ST with an RS engine setup a FQ320/340 is going to feel really slow to you.

I come from a tuned ST (stage3, diff, coilovers, big brakes, etc..) and I'd there isn't much in it between the two. Even after two years of evo ownership I still think my ST was faster once rolling.

You'll be able to drive the Evo in the wet too.... and actually enjoy it!
Power isn't the be all and the end all in opinion, but each to their own!

Have you driven an Evo? Great handling as standard and will easily make around 400bhp with a few mods. If you want something that handles great and can put it's power down in the wet as it does in the dry you'll probably forget about the lack of power.

Do you know Jonny Sharp (TrackFocusDirect)? On the ST/RS forums. I took him out in my standard FQ340 a couple of years ago at cadwell park in the pouring raining and he was mighty impressed and commented it was the fastest he's been in the wet. But in the dry his Focus would run rings around my Evo.

i have to say i find my evo 8 feels slower then my scoobys ive had, (same bhp) ok i know there not slower, i just think the evo is a lot smoother car and you dont get the same kick from them.
