Personally, I would replace the head gasket, Mains and Big End Bearings with Cosworth items and also replace the complete set of Valve Guides.

There are many, many builders out there and their prices are across the board so it all depends on what sort of after sales service is involved and their reputation.

Fair do's let him crack on I am building a stroker engine for a guy that bought a car that he had done a rod job on I will say no more.

what was the crack with that? (didn't you get the piston for inspection?)


I got the impression that he fxxked up but tried to cover up instead of putting his hands up and apologising as we all make mistakes.......hes been building engines for years without issues so I'm sure most would've appreciated his honesty.

Are we talking about the job where the piston/rod was sent back for inspection and subsequently binned???

Yes he got the piston back for inspection there was a big thread about it on another forum I am saying no more on the subject.
