Strange issue!

Hi folks!

Had a couple of comments from mates saying my car seems quite sluggish to start. Sometimes it starts quicker and other times it takes a 3-4 seconds. Anyone know why this is? I've got a volt gauge installed and when i start it drops from 12v to 0 then up to 14 once started. I don't know if that helps with whats wrong?

Another issue is after driving reasonably hard and coming to a stop, i'll let it run for a few minutes before switching off. When i go to start it 5 min later nothing happens it just makes a strange noise (hard to describe) but, it doesn't actually try to start. If i lock it then come back to it a wee while later it starts fine.

I'm guessing it could be a battery or started motor issue?

It's not a whirring noise mate, really hard to describe, its from the engine, like the opening of something if that makes sense

Hard to make anything out from the video

But I would possibly say sticky starter. Get it removed and cleaned/checked

How olds the battery? Evos are notorious to have a lazy start with cold weather coming it will get worse

Eh not to sure mate, how would i check? I've got a multimeter here, would it be worth connecting one up to see if the voltage drops when starting?

Yh always start with the basics, hook up the multimeter and see what it's saying if all is ok move onto the next suspect.

Could just be something simple like a bad earth to starter motor!
