what sort of power will a fq340 take before id need to start upgrading internals, any help or advice will be gratefull

depends what model evo you got.

if its a evo 8 fq340 then around 370-380 is a good place to be
it its an 8 mr fq340 or evo 9 fq340 or evo 9 mr fq340 then many poeple run 400 no problems some say 420-430 but then no 2 dynos will show the same readings and some give more generious readings than others

400/400 should be fine and about 1.85bar max

Thanks And I'm currently running 385bhp at 1.7 bar but I want to get more without rebuilding the engine if. Just got the usual mods dv, 3inch turbo back, walbro fuel pump, avcr boost controller and remap what I was told to strengthen the bottom end and c what I can get. I don't WANa run 1.85 bar if it's gona be too much pressure on the turbo as I was told 1.7 bar is as Sade as it gets. Could I be misinformed if so then I think I need to be corrected thanks

which model evo do you have? all of the 8's + and some 7's we've run at 1.8 bar with no know issues so far

you should be able to get a bit more then, do you know if you have the 10.5 turbo or 9.8? You could go to 1.8 bar and then a tweak on the map and you could potentially see 400

Yes And that sounds good I think the mr have a standard 10.5 hotside?? Anyways the 400 sounds good but what I don't understand people with the evo8 260 Gsr achieve 380bhp - 390bhp so how come the mr is in the same powe range I mean it has better cams, better turbo it's lighter in weight so should it not go up to 430 or possibly 420bhp without too much effort??

generally it would be hard for a 260 to get to those figures due to the tame cams in the engine, if you change them then those figures should be close. as for an 8MR they generally make the 400 but struggle for any more, 430 is potentially achievable on a 9 though

Its not about top end bhp. I mean if you car is 400 bhp, its only 400bhp at high RPM, not lower down

So I suppose to achieve good bhp figures you need to get the power lower down in the rev range
