Starting an Evo

Just a quick one.

Took car in to have the Clifford BalckJax5 finally removed yesterday and have it back now.

Yay! No more fumbling under the steering column putting codes in to start the car, then again when moving and every time you get out or someone opens the door!

I thought it was a function of the BlackJax5 that I had to have the clutch down after entering the code for the car to start.

However, the guy that removed it for me said its standard EVO setup. So I still need to put foot on clutch before turning the car.

Is this normal for EVOs or likely to be a function of the BlackJax5 that has not been removed properly?

Cheers

Yh its the norm, if you don't like the function poke ur head in the footwell and at the top of the pedal there is a plug just unplug it and car will start without clutch down

its not normal, its a JDM add on that we don't do in the UK. Remove the plug from the clutch switch and you won't have to do it.

Yea I used to have to push clutch down to start my VII and yea you can just disconnect the switch from the pedal :)

why didnt you just turn the blackjax off??

I tried that from the book but didnt seem to work.

Secondly it has been tempremental and causing fuel cut so te car wont start even with the code. I thought it best just to have it removed as I dont like it anyway.

Although I wouldnt know what to check. Maybe the guy charged me £120 notes just to switch it off, who knows!

Mines a 9GT import so would that come as standard then?

Looks easy enough to disconnect and doesnt seem any harm having it on.

In fact its probably a good safety feature for all that leave the car in gear!

Yeh mine got it but I thought the Jdm are imports but always thought the mrfq are uk specs Think it's better to leave it on the gear thing one and number 2 when my mates try drive off when I'm fueling it they cnt start it so yeh gud safety feature
