Can you get replacement glass for the electric mirrors or is it just a case of having to buy a complete new unit.

My car came with some ralliart CF ones on with the originals in the boot.

One of the originals has a cracked lens and on both the cables have been cut rather than correctly removed.

I want to probably put the originals back on but unless I can get the wiring sorted and lens replaced probably wasting my time!!

Any DIY guides to removing the mirrors or places where I can get the spare from would be helpful.

PS. I've had a quick look at taking the mirrors apart but can find any obvious way to separate the lenses?

Wouldn't a standard lancer glass be the same shape? Try halfords or a mitsi stealer. Whats the matter with the ralliart ones then? first dibs if your selling:)

You might get a new glass from halfords but will only be a stick on one so you'll prob have to go to Mitsi for the proper one which if they the same as early ones then the glass and it's plastic surround will just pull out from the bottom edge first.

I don understand why anyone would cut the wires cos there is a plug just under the top edge of the door card and you don't even need to remove the door card to find it.

I have a pair off my mates Evo IX in perfect condition with glass and wires so just plug and play. Only trouble is they are silver so would need painting to match your car but any bodyshop could do that for around £40.

Pm me if you want them :)

Cheers mate. I might well do if getting new glass and wiring turns up a blank. I'll do some digging around.

Not sure why they cut the wires to be honest, think is was just pure laziness!

Maybe mate,

I'll be in touch. Here are some picture of the ones on at moment, they are Ralliart Carbon Fibre ones (think proper and not wrapped) but I did not put them on!

if they are ralliart versions (which they look like) they wont be carbon fibre. these also fetch good money when sold on £200 - £400 depending on there condition

Have they got ralliart embosed on them and they should be electric if genuine also they won't be carbon fibre like Darren says but printed like the dash inserts sort of effect:)

They do have ralliart embossed on them.

Sorry did not mean to mis-lead about Carbon Fibre, as said came with car.

duh! I never actually thought to check to see if they wired to the electrics or not!! Had assumed that 'cause the old ones have been hacked off they would not be. Surprisingly they are wired up and working properly!!

Just to give you hand when wiring new ones in you will find two wires that arent used on the ralliart ones, there for the folding mirrors (if you have them) dont forget to wire them up bud

Nice they are genuine.

Good :)

Seeing as you were the first to post an interest in these if I do decide to go back to standard will give you first refusual.

They do work and function fine and are in good condition (there is the odd spot where the clear covering has started to lift but other than that they are spot on.

The only reason I was thinking of going back to OEM was more a question of taste!! I can't decide if I like them or not, i'm still on the fence. I'll keep them on for a few more weeks and see if I change my mind.

Thanks all for the feedback
