Standalone ECU

hi all, i no i may get some negative responces but im buying an early evo engine to put into a VW polo but i no to wire it in i would need a standalone ECU to run the engine without running the full EVO wiring and fuesbox.

so im just wondering what would be the best ECU to use and are there anythings i can remove off the engine. I no i will not need the power steering but what els can be removed.

i no ill need to custom make some engine mounts and drive shafts and i no what im doing in that way, but when it comes down to the wiring i need help

so can anyone give me some directions please

depends what lump you go for .....I think or what model the engine is from....Motec or viper ...I think but not too sure to be honest

If you are going to be making a custom engine loom then most aftermarket ecu's can work.

Motec would be on the higher end of the market you could also look at DTA which are good value for money.

Well the standalone iv been looking at come with a wiring harness to make my own but it's not looking like it has a map sensor so that's out of the question..... Also Im not sure what engine to use iv been told to get sn early one evo 1/2/3 as there a bit more simple wiring wise...

I have been looking at using the running gear but the track I's looking to wide and I'm after keeping it standard looking ish lol
Heres a snap of it

It's around 170-180bhp ATM and that's out of a 1.3l supercharged running 22psi

Use one that has the crank/cam trigger pattern in its software this makes a easy fit unless you dont mind making a crank trigger,
I would use Vipec/Autronic/Motec.

It's around 170-180 bhp it still needs some 310cc injectors and a remap and will be 200bhp+ after that...

They are have the correct triggers on them for the ecu's I mentioned but I would go for a Evo 8 MR if you can as this will give the most power for less work, If you are going for big power them 5 to 9 are fine to rebiuld.

I'n not after running mega power as iv got to try to put it down as it will be FWD so not looking for more than 320bhp at a maximum
Would you say to stay away from the early engines then ( 1/2/3/4s ) I was going to but a full car and strip it but if I'm going for a newer engine this I's out of the question

I would go for the later engines.

What year are we looking at so I can get a price as that was one of the main reasons I was hoping an early engine would be best so I could get a full car then I'd have everything if I decide to go 4wd

Breakers tend to sell them from about £1500 to £2500.
