Hi All just wondering if someone can help, was trying to change me N/S/F wheel bearing on EVo 4 today and i've ended up killing the drive shaft lol

Was trying to get the shaft out of the hub, gave a couple of good whacks from a trusty hammer and sod all happened so had to move onto the hub puller, yes you've guessed it the shaft went no where and the end of the shaft split (F**K)

just wondering whats the best course of action now

1. Pull the Whole driveshaft out of the engine and replace the outer CV joint on my own driveshaft thus costing me 45 squid plus giving mea new CV joint(nice)

or

Replace whole driveshaft for second hand one for about 80-100 squid which is second hand from another car

Just wondering how easy it would be to strip off cv joint with the whole hub still on it cause it's bloody welded the splines together

Also i need to get a new ball joint rubber as i've ended up shredding it by lossing it :)twisted:) with the hub ha ha brut force failed epic this time:whistling: i just cant find a Ball joint rubber nor a full ball joint for the evo 4 any where

sorry about the long post but it's been a bad day :wtf:

many thanks Jay

Ps is there any EvoOwners Patirots going to Oulton Park Modify Live April 16 would be intrested knowing if anyone is likly to go!!!:^^:

I dont need a new ball joint just need a rubber for her, when i was trying to get the ball joint out me ball joint tool had a nick it in that i did'nt see so i ended up shredding the rubber

How easy is it to remove the the drive shaft from the car, looking at the manual and does not say anything about the front drive shaft, do i remove the rubber and sep there or do i go further in and sep??? different from what i'm use to on this lol learning curve

Don't think you can get a rubber for ball joint normally on mot if the rubber is split then they fail you and you need to get a new ball joint but if you do manage to get a new rubber let me know as mine needs doing and rePlacing the rubber would be a cheaper option but for the price might aswell get a complete bottom arm

Right mate just found this on camskill, if your after just the ball joint rubber like my self if you look under evo 4 it shows the whole arm but gives the part numbers for all fittings on the wishbone, but if you look under mitsubishi lancer 1.8GSR CM5A Turbo you can get the rubber ball joint cover for 9.39 quid ;) same part number (40317) as the evo 4 rubber, hope this helps ya it 's helped me ha ha just saved me self over hundred quid lol
