I have a 2001 evo 7 that the speedo reads in kph and seems to have a limiter when im going hell for leather in 5th gear, i have brought a converter that takes a wire from the gearbox sensor plug to convert into mph and to remove the limiter. However someone has told me that it will upset and confuse the AYC if i fit it. is this true ???

yes RsvRob same garage, apparently the reason the AYC wouldnt bleed to start with was because the Mph converter that was already fitted was knackered (it had blown out and was rusty and very old looking so i am happy that it was knackered) and the AYC didnt know the wheels were turning when the car was running on a 2 poster ramp. when old converter was removed AYC bled fine. i brought a new converter and he said ha could fit it but it might confuse the AYC. so i said dont fit it.

I'd avoid that garage in future then ! Where abouts are you based ?

So the old one was faulty and not sending a signal.
Fitting new one will send a signal so it won't confuse the ayc. Unless your driving at 30 and the Speedo days 130 lmao

Could you not have just had it re mapped to take the limiter off ? Tbf all you needed to do was change the dials :)

I thought it had been re-mapped, the car came with no end of paperwork and i have a dino print out showing 351 bhp at the wheels that was done by Street racers in 2008. its the first car like this that ive had so im still on a big learning curve. Does a re-map always take the limiter off ???

Well Any remapp that was worth the effort yes..they set the new limit to 521 iirc

the only cars where fooling with the sppedo caused issues were older gt-rs..the HicaS felt dinky in some of em
