a bit of a puzzle just look at the standard solenoid and they is no vacuum hose to it and they is a hose from the turbo actuator to the bottom or the turbo and i want to know why has it been done like this and will it cause any damage ,i will be fitting a 3 port boost controller on soon

hi it sounds like some one has done away with the standard solenoid and just run the turbo closed loop ,

it might have had a bleed valve fitted that has been removed maybe or had a boost controller fitted in the past ." so no need for the standad sol .

its probably running lower boost than standard at the moment as a result .

im not 100% on this , but sure some one else will put me right :O)

so would it be best to fit the vac hosese back to the solenoid .
but i dont know what hose goes where on the solenoid :confused:from the turbo, i need to buy a haynes me thinks :hm:

Running turbo to actuator closed loop is safe and will just run actuator pressure. Normaly 0.7 bar but may be higher if you have an uprated or adjustable actuator

I wouldn't bother hooking up std solenoid if your fitting a 3port soon. Std setup is complicated and solenoid is rubbish

Sorry to ask this but I'm a noob to the Evo engine and was wondering how do u exactly install a 3 port boost solenoid? In this case on an E5 or E6?

cut the wiring for the original solenoid and solder the 3 port in its place, then pipe the port number 2 to the actuator and number 3 to the compressor side of the turbo (this is assuming something like a gizzmo 3 port),all done then get you map checked before you boot it.

Hope that helps

For time being it wouldn't hurt to plum back in to standard solenoid you will have a slight grin factor until you fit the 3 port and have a big grin factor lol
