"SLOW DOWN" message on dash board

Hiya , last night I was driving my evo 10 , back from about 100 miles from my house, was driving it hard and after a while the dash board said "SLOW DOWN" just wondering if any one else has had that problem. Not happy with it at , aren't they suppose to be high performance cars ! , in my rs4 didn't have this problem , the only thing that use to say is go faster .

From what ive read (ie not my experience) the slow down message is when its all getting a bit warm. It can be transmission, oil, water or brake fluid which is too hot.

You really want to get shot of that one quick!!!

They have too many faults to mention!!!!

Nick is right it is high fluid temperature related, theres just too many down sides to that model.

Did you know that there is a mandatory chain change on that model which is anticipated to kick in at 20,000k minimum and is a £3,000 job???

The chain on hard drive a launch has a tendancy to stretch??????!!!!!!!

I never heard of a chain doing that until i saw it for myself.

As i said, get shot of it and by sounds of it get yoursel a newer RS4 or an Evo 6 Extreme.

Hi Naz,
I had a X come in today, the driver was going past the garage and he had the slow down light on in the dash so he pulled in to ask what it is all about. I ran a diagnostic on my ETHOS and narrowed it down to the chain/transmission. It is a limp mode mechanism that you as a driver should adhere to in order to ensure that both chain stretch and damage to your transmission is averted.

He told me he had been blasting around for about half an hour and at some points he was hitting 125 to 135 mph on normal roads!!!!

Is that what you were up to too when the light came on???

The best way to deal with situation is to change the CVT and engine oils right away as they will have lost consistency and will start to cook the engine.

Mitsi CVT is the best for the job on the X.

You can only go forward so far!!!

In order to advance these days, corners are cut. The difference in the WRC spec engine that is the heart of the X and the street engine that is in the road going X is over £125k, so when they tested the X before production there were no issues. Is it any wonder why they pulled out of the Rally scene??? They blamed the credit crunch LOL!!!!
The Evo was on back order as it has always been since it was first born!!!

They managed to cure some issues but new tooling out weighed the RRP on the car so they put it out hoping that the gremlins would stay hidden until the 3 year warranty period had expired.

If I owned a X then you can bet I would be going for a monthly oil change from the dealers and showing them who the daddy is, I would definitely go for a chain change a couple of months before the warranty expires. I would want my moneys worth.

But your right buddy, there are tooo many issues. They should have stuck with the IX engine for a couple of years and just uprated the turbo and Cams each year to add to the traditional 10+ horses they are renowned for.

i make you right ,my mate has just got him self a new nissan gtr and the same there to got rid or the rb engine and gone for i like to blow up engine, and then in there moment of magic they give it a semi auto/manaul box!!!! what are they thinking of ,that just makes the driver lazy and more to break which hes did! and had it done under warrenty which would of cost 7k ??? how much lol, not bad for a 09 plate car!

The R32, 33 and 34 are all recognised drag cars and hold 1/4 mile times that are to die for.

Then came the GTR, a car designed for the States as not a single Syline has been allowed in for road use.

Hence the retarded drive factor.

But guess what???

3 consecutive launches and the gear box dies.

Is that advancement in technology????

That is what happens when manufacturers choose to go for executive power over raw power.

i know its bad but you know what my cars still goes ok lol and the gtr may be faster but not in the long run.
