I was pulled over on 17/4/13 for not having a number plate on the front of my car, well after a ticking off the copper decides he is going to give me a ticket for the offence, so he writes one out,

Even though he checked my licence mot and tax and insurance at the roadside I still had to produce my docs within 7 days at my local station, so I did this the following day.

While in the police station the officer noticed that at the top of my ticket the payment ref had not been filled in, he had put the amount £30 fine but no reference codes, so the officer wandered off with my ticket and 20 mins later came back and all the boxes had been filled in. You can see this below

So 5 days after I was pulled over I make the payment via the phone on the automated system as advised on the back of the ticket. I write my payment ref on the ticket and that's matter closed

But it's not, I got a letter yesterday saying I now owe £90 because I have failed to pay in allocated timeframe. So straight away I put this down to the fact he didn't fill out the ticket properly and the payment ref I have used to pay doesn't corrospond to my ticket, so I call the courts this morning explain whats happened and she understands how ever then informs me that number plate offence is £60 not £30

So I'm awaiting a phone call back, as far as I am concered I have done all asked of me well within alloted times and I have in writing the fine amount as 30 with the offence writes clearly, so where do I stand, am I liable for the other 30 or am I right to dig my heels in?

Yep you're liable to pay the £60 instead of the £30.

Remember last month I got pulled cause the copper couldn't see I had an MOT ( apparently ) yet he still gave me a producer cause he couldn't be bothered to follow me back to mine which was literally 5 mins away so I could show him.
But the jobs worth weren't only lazy, he was also incompetent cause he had marked down that It came up I had no insurance

So I rang when I got in and asked to speak to the copper - that didn't happen, he sent me a text the following morning apologising for he's mistake but it had all gone through the system so I had to produce everything at the police station.

But I didn't - I only produced my MOT cert cause my insurance are an online only and to speak to them about anything you have to email them and they take 24 hours to reply ! But the guy behind the counter saw my side of the argument, and let it slide, which was if I had no insurance, then surely they wouldn't of let me drive off ! Dumb asses lol !

And we have these idiots enforcing the law? Think they need some basic training.

Yh Sammi reminded me of that foxy, what's a twat!

The guy that pulled me over also had to caution me for failing to provide my licence when requested..... To which I promptly reminded him he hadn't even asked me for it and it was in my pocket but he had no desire to see it :wtf:

Well I think I'm going to argue until I'm blue in the face and get my way, because as far as I'm concerned its printed 30 quid which I have paid, I'm not chipping into my japshow dosh lol

Yep tell me about it !
Basic knowledge of the road act rules would be an advantage if they insist on enforcing them onto us for the pure hell of it !

And they wonder why we get so annoyed with them :(

Basically mate they are as thick as Pig S..t and when they make a mistake it get's passed off to a member of public. Just pay it mate and be done with it.Try sending a letter to your local MP too (won't make any difference but it will be logged)

Pay it mate! It's all tooooooooooooo long winded to hold out on £30. You are right tho, but you ain't gonna make a blind bit of difference and they will do it again and again and again to the next person...

I didn't tick him off I was very much yes sir no sir, but had a reason when he asked why i had no plate, as they would normally like to educate those who listen and fine those who act cocky.

Well bit of an update

After being ignored by the enforcement office I relieved another letter from the court yesterday, a further steps notice.

So today I call the enforcement office and stress my concerns about this taking its time and my frustration also. I then call the courts and explain again to them what's going on and again my concerns raised. So the lady at the court puts a stop on proceedings pending investigation.

I received a call this afternoon from the manager at the enforcement office.

She said that because the paperwork wasn't filled properly, and lincs police confirm this, that the ticket is null and void and I will be receiving a cheque for the 30 pound I paid and no further action will be taken.

So basically a refund of what I paid and apology
Can't say fairer than that
