Ive got an evo 4 with an evo 6 engine. I put a boost gauge on it and in 4th gear it holds on 1.5bar. Is this normal and safe or too high. I do believe the engine is standard

Abit hi if it's hasn't been mapped for that boost! Standard boost is about 1.1 bar i think but not 100%! Try putting standard boost in the search section bound to have been asked before!

If it's been mapped to run 1.5 then fine. But get fueling checked if your not sure

Agree with Rob. My V with a V engine runs 1.51 bar. That's what it was mapped for some years ago and still going strong :)

Wouldn't it need a map on there to run that sort of boost? Fuel cut should of kicked in long ago on a stock ecu?!

Saying that the fp green is playing havoc with the map I have lol.. Need to get the car mapped to suit.

Standard boost on a VI is a peak of 1.2 and it'll hold about 1.0 - 1.1. 0.7 is actuator pressure and you'd only get that if your boost control wasn't working.

As others have said, as long as it's been mapped for that (it will have otherwise it would be fuel cutting) then it should be ok, but these things are always a gamble. I'd probably get it checked out though if you've just bought it as you never know what a previous owner has done.
