Hi all,
Looking for some insight on my Evo as I’ve come across something a bit unusual.
I have a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII (CT9A),UK/European car. VIN is JMASNCT9A5U0002**, which makes it an early 2005 model.
The interesting part is the paint code — the VIN plate under the bonnet clearly shows EXT: T70D. From what I understand, that corresponds to Ruri Blue, which is typically associated with the Evo 9, not the Evo 8.
The car is completely blue throughout (engine bay, door shuts, boot floor etc.),so it doesn’t appear to be a respray. It all looks consistent and factory.
From what I can tell:
- Evo 8 wasn’t officially offered in Ruri Blue
- My VIN plate shows T70D from factory
- Build date is right around the Evo 8 → Evo 9 transition period
So I’m wondering:
- Has anyone ever come across another Evo 8 with T70/T70D?
- Is this likely a late production / crossover car?
- Or is there any known explanation for this in Mitsubishi records?
Not trying to overhype it, just genuinely curious what the story is behind it.
