Remap then Exhaust?

Hi Guys,

Ive had my Evo 8 GSR remapped a couple of months ago but have now decided to go down the route of an exhaust etc as i know how restrictive they are on the GSR. I was just wondering if i would need the car remapping again with the new mods?

Also, any ideas on a full exhaust with sports cat?

Cheers

its best to get it mapped for any major mods mate.. Apexi exhausts are good (i have one on mine, and it sounds lovely)
also you want a complete decat if your going for power, as any kind of cat will restrict flow

Thanks mate. How much difference will just a decat and decat downpipe make?

well a decat, good exhaust and a good air filter should free up 20-30 bhp ;)

I'd do all mods first exhaust, port head, down pipes/de-cat etc before a remap other wise when you do something it could throw the map out

your ecu should be able to handle a exhaust upgrade and I can tell you that it is well worth it but for the very best result you should get the mapping checked on a dyno preferable before and after

M.O.T and upgrades

i am looking to have a stage 3 upgrade, bigger turbo etc. how does this and other mods. effect the emissions on an mot.(uk test) i read alot about a decat, surely this will make a fail on the emission. do you put it back to a stock set up prior to an mot?

Some people will put the cat back on and have an MOT map to get them through the MOT. Others find other ways which cant be aired in public... The official line is the car should meet MOT standards at all time ;)
