rear outer cv joints e4 :0)

hi all


may be a silly question does any one know if the rear outer cv joints on a evo are the same as the front ??evo 4

it seems you can buy the front but the rears come with the shaft for some reason .

and i no they can be removed from the shaft cause ive had them off in the past when i retro fitted e5 inner joints to my e4 .

im only asking as i have a rear abs ring cracked and would rather fit 2 new joints :0)

i can see mits may have mirrored the back with the front setup but dont have any spare joints to compair .

would be good to know as front joints are around £45. new from camkill :0)

Do you know if front joints from a VI are same as a IV ?

looking at the joints on the camkills site the front iv and vi joints do look to be the same :0)

think it may be a case of just pulling a front and rear shaft off one day and try ???

i have been told the rings may be available on there own ???

Can't find any cv's sorry. Probably the rats have wandered off with them lol

right to answer my own question :O)


the front and rear cv joints on a evo 4 are not the same :O(


there a close fit and you have to wonder why they didnt use the same part but as the only real differance is the position and thickness of the abs ring and the front joint is a touch wider and fouls the rear abs sensor if fitter ,

which is a shame as the fronts are so cheap compaired to the rears :O(


im sure if you had the right tooling it could be made to fit with ease as the splines to the hubs and shaft fit perfect ????


but as i was only looking to replace the abs rings i will leave that for another time :O)

Well done for clearing that up.
I guess the hub determines the position of the ring on the cv.

yes i juess so ,

from the look of it you would have more luck fit the rear to the front buy swapping the rings over as they are different sizes so it would sit on the higher step putting it close to where it should be ..

was worth a try i guess :O)
