Rear end clunk when changing gear

When I'm changing gear I'm getting a clunk from the rear end, think my diff bushes are on their way out...been looking online and I'm only finding the two big ones, is there any others I might as well do while it's apart? What's these moustache bars all about, have they got them in?

Alright Andy, I'd re-bush the whole back end if I were you, I'm planning on doing that after I've done my cambelt. Is it clunking when you lift the clutch up or before?

It's when you let the clutch out quickly, what other bushes are on the diff?

Sometimes my 9 makes a pretty big bang in the rear end if i do an aggressive gear change too. I just thought it was the diff letting me know I'm driving like a c**t. Changing the bushings should fix it?

It may be any part of the suspension causing it as well, as the car is squating when the clutch is pulled up, Anti roll bar etc. I think there are two rear and two front diff bushes/mounts not 100% on that though.

D1andonlyantman yeah new bushes should fix it, sound just like what mines doin, I'm gonna poly bush it I think, where's best to get them? And I'll take a look at them when it's in the air andy6

Ive actually got the 3 ayc lights at the moment because my car didn't have a pump fitted whe I bought it and the one I've bought needs some attention, so maybe I'll get it all checked over at the same time. I'll let you know how it goes

How are you getting on with your AYC rebuild? Sounds like an interesting project. Did the car have all the hydraulic lines etc with it?

Yeah the hoses and plug were there, just the pump was missing. The PO said it had a mechanical diff and I didn't know any better at the time, but now I know that even with a mechanical rear diff the car still needs the pump for the acd to work, so it's more than likely still got the standard diff and the guy just removed the old pump when it broke. The pump I bought didn't work properly even though the seller said it did (he gave me a partial refund),so now I just need to drive to auto torque and get them to do a pump refurb which will hopefully only cost 500 quid including bleeding etc, so after that the ayc issues will hopefully be sorted and I'll be about a grand out of pocket, which isn't ideal but the pumps don't come cheap refurb'd, so I can live with a grand I guess. Also the handling will obviously be much better once the acd and ayc are working so it's money well spent if you ask me. The missus doesn't see it that way but I'm not surprised lol

I found a fully working ayc/acd pump on ebay when mine went. It was from greece and the person listed it as a pump differential?? Anyway got it for £150 but with the other problems i had at the time ended up costing me £2500! (Gearbox rebuild, second hand transfer box, ayc pump and oils)

Thats a bargain! Mine was 700 but he refunded me some when I told him it didn't work. Once i get my little list of jobs done I'm going to waxoyl the underside of my car to try and make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen again in the future. There's a stone chip on the inside of a rear arch that's not looking very healthy so I've got to get that sorted and then the whole rear quarter sprayed, all because of one bloody chip! I just keep reminding myself that all this stuff isn't optional and I'm better off just throwing a load of money at it to get it sorted and then hopefully I'll be good for a while. Hopefully.... lol
