Re-Mapping

Have put on a Japspeed 3" Exhaust (De-catted) and apexi air filter on my Evo 6......Just failed the MOT on emissions (yes..i did but the cat back in), but also noticed the exhaust was as black/sooty as hell.....Does it need re-mapping???

As far as I am aware, the imports do not need comprehensive emissions testing!!!

They are supposed to run it at idle and not on throttle.

Have you checked with the MOT man on this???

He probably has not had time to go through the new guidelines!!!

does it idle funny?
drive part throttle ok?
really good or bad on petrol?

I remember him saying that the car was juddery or something like that a couple of weeks back.

good memory el.....just checked the coil pack's pin 2 & 3, and got 0.6 Kohm's....gonna order a new set to see if that makes a difference...

everything seems to be ok...except it stutters at 6000rpm, getting around 18-20 ish to the gallon

Just read the mis-fire thread a bit more closly, and noticed El, had stated that bad coil packs are 0.5 to 0.6 Kohm's......Hopefully i have found my gremlin......fingers crossed...

Coil packs fitted, cata clean put in tank....just gota take it for a ride and hopefully get past the MOT man......

Not long a go I posted a thread on the MLR regarding failing emissions and a few MOT testers replied to it, also through PM's.

As it turns out, I think an Evo IV and below (because of age) are tested at idle, anything above is tested at idle then fast idle :sad: it was on the fast idle test (both 1 and 2) that I failed my emissions test. Shame really, as I would have passed with a straight through system

SORTED....straight through the MOT, no problems, coil packs fitted (cured the stutter-another thread), cata clean added and car driven.......

Now i have my MOT, CAT back off till next year....lol

That was the impression I got from answers on the MLR, it may even below a IV (not including) but at a certain age on an import, they are only tested at idle speed.

I'll have a look at my post again and the PMs I received and copy paste some stuff

I would imagine that the ages shown on the link, it would not include an Evo IV
