Is that not a std intake that has just been cleaned and possibly ported!?
thats correct, i assumed everybody knows who race developments are.. an aftermarket manifold would be £500+ but if you look into the back to back tests that have been done on them its fairly inconclusive as to the actual benefits as all of them loose low down bit gain on top power figures. for example i managed to run 650bhp in my old 9 on the standard intake and on my current sprint car have 610bhp, its a sprint car so i would not trade a 15 bhp gain for 700rpm later boost, hence why i have not previously invested in an aftermaket intake.
race developments and MA Performance have ported the stock manifold and there has been some very good results with top bhp figures with no loss of rpm low down, other benefits can be had with safety also, here is an extract from the race developments website
Stage 1
Port and flow the runners, matching them to the gasket as shown in the first photo below. The throttle body plate is also smoothed and the nasty transition on the inside removed and replaced with a radius - up to 65mm only. This helps airflow into cylinder 4 which is always the weak point on these engines and the most prone to detonation.
