Possibly Getting Evo X FQ400

Hi all
I am 26 years old and currently drive a 2012 C63 AMG Coupe, I have only had this 3 months from new and got to the stage I am fed up with it already.

Previous to this I had a S2000 GT Turbo (some of you may have seen in numours magazines) which I sold for the C63.

I have now got to the stage I want to sell the C63 and possibly get a FQ400 but as I am new to the Evo scene just have some questions.

> What are the service intervals and rough prices?
> Any common faults / problems to look out for?
> Any other useful info

Well for that money I'd be looking at a modified 5-9 running 500bhp not a 400bhp mondeo lmao

ATM i get 230 miles to a £100 tank of fuel, and with the road tax being £1020 should work out about the same if not better

Hey stu, I also had an s2000 but non turbo, god your thing must have been FAST! Tbh the mpg is the same I get the same on my evo than I did on the s2k.

My S2k was running 520bhp with methanol injection and only used to do 9mpg if the Evo does the mpg of a standard S2k ill be more than happy lol

Thats crazy , surprised your still alive . Standard S2k is a handful as it is esp the AP1. Yeah fuel is pretty much the same not much in it. Well good luck on buy & if your after any Carbon Bits let me know and we will get your car looking like a beast . Am down the road from you too.

Don't know what area you are from, but Chris Variava in derby have a nice blue one in at around 29k

The Evo X's are becoming more popular now and have to say they growing on me too.

The EVO X 400 (off the shelf) is hard to come by (as it is for the 8's and 9's too) so you will pay a premium for that when a lower spec X can be tuned to 400 for les money.

I would agree with Rob - if power is what you are after you might be better positioned to buy an already modified 8 or 9 thats running around 500bhp already and then build from there.

Servicing is between 3 and 4.5K miles.

As for things to look out for, from experience!

Gearboxes can sometimes be a bit weak.
Get one you know has been looked after and backed up with plenty of reciepts and servicing but other than that its usual wear and tear.
Think AYC can be costly if goes wrong too

The X's are still relatively newish to the mod scene but some good ones out there. In fact one of our sponsors - Ant from IndigoGT was selling his X which would be a great model but dont know if its still for sale.

Also Xtreme are well know for selling well cared for EVOs and would snap up the offer to buy the C63 in part ex I am sure;

Not sure how up-2-date their list is but worth a call. Their Xtreme 400 would be a good buy

If you see any that come up for sale and want to post up for an opinion then do so. Someone on here may know the car too.

What makes you want the X over an early model? Is it to do with the interior creature comforts or just that you looking for latest model/low mileage/looks etc..
For me I think a X cabin is a nicer place to be but apart from that not much in it.

I am looking to spend around £26k this then leaves me enough money to possibly buy a small run around and also a deposit on another house for the same price as the C63

No worries mate, you can easily pick up a X for 26k or less and agree (from seeing you other projects) starting from a clean slate and doing all yourself is good.

Not sure where you are based or if you need access to tuners, suppliers of parts, places to do some of the work for you etc, etc. But lets us all know when you need help, some good guys (and girls) on here with lots more knowledge than me!

btw, you'll hear from Geoff soon on these forums and if you buy an EVO and continue to present it like you have your other cars he's gonna have a run for his money with the polishing! :razz:

Feel free to come and have a look at mine that I'm selling. It's a very well looked after low mileage car with a documented history, it'll also leave you quite a bit in your funds to do any engine work if you want to.
