PF pads squeeling bad!

hi, ive recently put performance friction pads and new standard discs on my evo 8 they have done over 100 mile now and they are squeeling really bad when coming to a stop after they are warmed up.

i took them out today and used some fine sandpaper on them, put copperslip on the back of them and re-fitted but they still squeel really bad when coming to a stop. its driving me crazy

i think i was too hard on them cus ive just got the car and couldnt help myself :blush:

what can i try now? rougher sandpaper?

did give them a real good ass whooping to bed them in? if not then that's why...

plus use copperslip on the backs of them

well my dad had the car for 2 days after i fitted them and he took it easy on them and they sounded ok, the car became mine on saturday i took it out and gave them a good ass whooping and now they squeel like a bitch!!!

i have used copperslip mate, didnt make any difference, can i fix them with rough sandpaper?

im unsure the correct method of bedding brakes as 50% of ppl say give them an ass whooping and 50% say go easy on them......

you HAVE to bed them in hard mate, unless on new discs at the time. Try rough sandpaper, then bedding in again.

but they were fitted with brand new discs so what do i do then....?

ok well the wheels have all gotta come off on thursday anyways so ill give them a rubbing on some rough sandpaper and hope that that sorts them. i thought that if you drove them too hard then you glaze them and that causes squeeling??

with new discs you go gentle, then cane them. give it a go!

ok thanks mate, so now i should be ok to give them a thrasing after i give them a rub over? theyve only done between 100 & 200 miles....

yeah go for it. i'd also give the discs a good rub over to remove and pad deposits on them

Just as an aside, make sure you copper slip the edges as well. I have found that this helps tremendously on the Carbotech pads. Then as Rich says, gentle for the first 100miles or so to bed the discs in and remove the remnants of transport oil, then cane the crap out of them.

indeed, i should have said, any edges or faces that contact on the caliper & retaining clips, give them some copperslip.

ahh ok i only did the backs, ill give it all a good copperslipping, wheels have gotta come off anyways tomoz as they are getting poweder coated on friday.

rubbed them down today and copper slipped the hell of of it! still squeeling :-( dunno wat to do now

Did you clean the discs properly as well? If you tried pottering about and didn't work then I'd try the other way. I done mine with basically new discs and were fine after a good thrashing. It was on private land too. although, It could just be the pad/disc combo causing it.

oops no i didnt clean the disc.... what should i use to clean them with? i gave them a thrashing earlier and the squeeling did start to get a little better i think...

I just got some wipes from work which are used to get grease etc off aircraft, just to get the loose deposits and dirt off them, then got up to between 80-100 and stop hard.
