Painting hot parts

Ok after seeing the pics of every1's jazzed up engine bays and then seeing my paint flaking dull bay decide to to do some painting

So picked up some halfords engine pain to day and gonna start with the manifold cover

but would it be of any benefit if I painted the manifold it's self.

Or is it just a wast of time and paint?

I wouldn't paint the manifold unless you've taken it off and had it sand blasted. The paint will come off eventually if its on rust. I painted the shield on my old 6 Then removed the one down next to the elbow.

Buy some of that heat wrap stuff comes in diff colours and heat proofs it a bit too

For the OE manifold, wrapping will be useless as its not a good shape. Best get it ceramic coated, but to be fair, on a stage 1 car you wouldn't notice any differences. I need to wrap my downpipe as it glows red after a blast and sets fire to the grass on the track leading to our house lol

So remove the manifold and sand Blast be for painting. Are the manifold gaskets reusable or will a new 1 be required.

I've always re-used, but made sure when it comes off it that its cleaned thoroughly before re-use

What about the rocker cover? Will normal heat paint work and do you laquer. I'm thinkin of doing mine black

Just normal car paint seems fine if doing it black. You can buy gloss black engine enamel from halfords so just pick up a tin of that to be sure

Halfords do a variety of high temp paints

I had a look but can't find any blue I like but the hardware shop near me said he can get me some hammer right engine enamel paint for the weekend

Its a terrible blue. Just get it pro-sprayed

Say goodbye to your engine. I would NEVER get a cover sand blasted.
