Over Boosting??

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me what over boosting is - I don't know what it is and what causes it - I have a feeling my evo 4 is doing it - On full throttle in 3rd, 4th and 5th sometimes the engine cuts out (jults),however pulls how it should. I don't have a gauge. If your turbo is over boosting, does it mean it had it. The car is standard apart from cat back exhuast and hks air filter.

Any replies would be much appreicated.

You need to check using a gauge. if your overboosting this can be fatal to the engine.. this can be caused by your actuator being knackered or a pipe to your actuator having a split in it and such like..

over boosting is caused by your actuator not opening the wastegate at the desired pressure.

Hi John,

Mitsubishi have looked at my car and I need a new engine for it - I don't know what to do - I just put a new exeedy clutch in (not even done 50 miles) - They say one of the pistons is hitting the head - So its pretty bad - I'm not sure whether to source a new engine - Sell it as is or break myself, which i don't really have time for - its done about 65k and the body spotless, no rust, I badly want the car, I'm still thinking about what to do - Any idea's - Would a breaker (like yourself) pay half reasonable cash for it?? How much do you reckon I could get on ebay or here needing the work. I really don't want to part with it, but I may cut my looses as have a daughter to worry about now too.

I find it hard to believe the piston is hitting the head... and still running....

Where are you located.. i think you need to get a second opinion.... i would believe everythign mitsubishi tell you...

First off mate remove your postcode from your previous address.. there is some un savoury characters out there that might want to know where an evo is.

I highly recomend M A Developments in Marlow as there the closest person to you that is a evo specialist.
