outcome on my engine

How long does the engine need to be run in for people and what's the rules on running in, what oil to use and when to change ?

My last engine and this one I use 10/40 mineral oil changed it after 50 miles with the same type of oil.

Then change again at 3-500 for your normal oil or you can take it to 1000 up to you. They do say the longer you leave it running mineral oil the better so maybe leave it till 1k

I been running a small amount of boost. And good idea to find some nice long hills to drive up so as to load the engine up using light throttle and hold the revs at around 2-3000 rpm so it's just and just trying to build boost but without actually building the boost level above say 0:50 bar

I have a 100 mile trip home from where the car is at the moment so I guess an oil change when I get home is in order.

So boost cut right down Yh. What revs should the car be kept below, as you can prob tell I've not run a car in before

you should really ask the guy who rebuilt your engine....

as above tho minrel oil 50 miles change, but mine was run in slightly different changed mineral oil every 50 miles for 250 miles then fully syn remapped never missed a beat.....
i used cheap halfords mineral oil..............

The engines I biuld are run in between 50 to 200miles then straight in to mapping and full boost.
But you should only take advice from the engine biulder.

My last engine that was built for my VII was mapped after 300 miles that was 2 years 15-20,000 miles ago now and it's still going strong !

It's my dad doing the work. It's not a complete rebuild only crank back in and all ass bearings. He says an oil change within the first 50 miles run in for few hundred and I should be fine as the bearings are not metal on metal contact if he was rebuilding fully it would be a 1500k jobbie

Yea it will take a while to get it back together, like I did you probably fit parts in the wrong order and have to take bits back off in order to fit the next part cos you done it in the wrong sequence lol

I'm not sure on this one as its only been suggested and I won't be able to have a peak until tomos morning but does my loom unplug from the bulkhead? If it does it would make putting all the plugs and wires on a whole heap easier lol

if he rings haven't been changed and are fitted as removed there isn't any running in necessary.

the wiring doesn't unplug at the bulkhead im afraid

The only thing that's been removed is the crank downwards so crank bearings and big end bearing are new pistons havnt been removed and head not been removed.

So I don't need the special running in oil?

What a shame I was hoping I could get away with unplugging loom as it was a nightmare unplugging everything lol.

Also something that's played on my mind is that my objectors have just been sitting in the rail off theengine how is best to clean these as I dont want dust and stuff to be in them

no running in oil needed then, mineral is needed for bedding rings in. Wiring is easy to plug in

without cleaning them properly, best you can do is just give them a blow over with air, they'll be fine

I hope the plugs and stuff are easy lol I gotta get the box back on the engine first I hear that's tricky too lol

Depends how it's been taken apart, often it's easier to put the engine in first through the top and box in from underneath

Well I got to my dads a little while ago so I will be here until Tuesday eve when I go back home so I have 2 full days on the car hopefully I can get it all up and running by Tuesday otherwise ill have to drive the deathtrap that is my muns 206 back from Boston to Luton it nearly killed me on the way up here
