its taken a while as its not ideal being 100 miles away from the car and micro managing, but i have finally heard back about my engine.

the crank has been miked up and no problems with it at all, its been lightly polished and will be coming back 2mos hopefully.

i just need to source the main bearings and big end bearings now and once they arrive get the engine rebuilt and back in the car

That's not too bad then still along way to go but at the end of the build you can sit back and think I did that :)

So how did it happen in the first place? What made it just give up the ghost?

Yeah considering you said it started when you pulled away from a set of lights and had not been cornering hard before hand :(

oil starvation could have happened around the lanes through caddington as your aware very fast corners, pulled up at traffic lights on a5 and went when i pulled away

the bearings were done, so we found the prob but i was told my crank was ucked but when i took it out everyone in the workshop was convinced the crank was ok so i had it miked and polished, its not warped in any way no ridges so a quick polish and its fine. my dad didnt want me to replace the engine if it only needed a set of bearings which is common sense i suppose, just more work, so now its all got the all clear i need
new bearings
cambelt
oil cooler
and plenty of time to put it all back together
