So, after being let down/ messed about by local bodyshop that said they'd paint the car then after 2 months it hadn't moved so inquiries had to be made and after chatting to several places I made my decision and off it went.
Now this place doesn't do crash repairs, they are custom and classic specialists.

Friend of mine has his own recovery business, and yes jokes were made about wether or not he should be applying for a salvage license to move my car lol :)

Boot lock removed purely to de clutter

Panels prepped ready for paint

Then after discovering some nasty tin worm... It had to be removed so sourced a replacement from a breaker and they quite simply swapped one for the other :)

Well impressed with the fuel filer recess :)

What causes them to rust like that in there lee?

It's a common issue for most Evo vii's for some reason. I think where the round hole is and the 4 spot welds are well that's double skinned fuel filler recess/inner wheel arch. Well I think it's water egress between 2 skins. Not sufficiently sealed from new.

Update on the engine. Appears there was quite a large low spot on the top of the block. Right where the gasket failed on a previous time by cylinder no3 and made worse this time and to include another slightly slower dip where the gasket went this time by no4.
So cause of my gasket failing so soon seems to be cos I didn't have the block decked after first gasket fail early this year.

Enough of dwelling on the past, let's look and see what happening now :)

This room is awesome :)

they are a snug fit. 18x9.5 et30 with 265/35 tyres :D

yes rear arches have been tweaked to suit :)

they are bronze which I didn't like but they look really good on the car :)

Yeah still got it. Got it taxed an insured and back on the road yesterday and it came home on the back of a truck today. Lol. Looks like the cambelt tensioner failed but I'll strip it tomorrow and see for sure.
Until then I'm back in my starlet gt.

see, that's what happens, these cars like to break themselves when you leave them stood up lol

tensioner failure is quite un common. more likely balance shaft belt. let me know if you need any odd bits :)

I did think balance belt but I've taken the top cover off and the cambelt is still in 1 piece but has a lot of slack all round. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.
Yeah I'll give you a shout if I need anything.

Yea they do stop funny at the top sometimes. The valve springs can push the cam back slightly releasing some tension off the belt at too.
Best to have the covers off and have a look
