Great service from these guys,

I ordered some bits a month or so ago, the oil I ordered they had run out of but they were straight on the phone to me, giving me good advice on what oil to get instead and refunded the difference straight back into my account. All products turned up exactly when stated, great communication throughout.

I'm glad you like the service.

Cheers

Tim

Thank you very much Oilman! Now I can breath better. I was a bit worried. :D So for my synth oil that is in my e4 that I dont use quite often. After how many kms/miles would you suggest I change it? Or in my case is better to change it after 6months or something like that?

For the cleaning method. I should use semi synthetic 5w-50 same as my actual synthetic?

If you aren't doing many miles, less than 5k, change it annually. Use a 10w-40 or 5w-50 for cleaning it out, whatever you can get hold of really. It won't be in there long enough to cause a problem.

Cheers

Tim

Hi Oilman,

I have 98' Evo V, 145,000 km on her.
Shall I use same amount and types of Gearbox and Diff oil?

Also, what is the AYC fluids? Is that something completely different? I've owned the car 4 years and haven't changed any of this stuff.... Just kinda learning about it now.

Is it the same quantities for a VI?

And will the filter you recommended fit?

Hi Oilman,
Quick one for you....

I have an evo 6 and I'm giving it a full service.

The oils I have are:

5 litres of TOP (Irish Brand) 10W 40 fully synthetic engine oil

4 litres of Motul SAE 75w90 gearbox and Diff oil
2 litres of Motul SAE 75w140 gearbox and Diff oil
1 litre of SAE 90 Diff oil.
3 litres of Motul Automatic gearbox oil

What do use where and if they are not suitable what do need?
Thanks

Hi

I don't know the engine oil, so can't comment on that.

The 75w-90 is fine for the gearbox and transfer box, SAE 90 for the diff and ATF for the AYC.

Cheers

Tim

Trying to select oil for transfer box. But have conflicting options. Last post say's 75-90 but your website doesn't suggest this!!
So which is it or does it not matter?

Hi Andy

I would use a 5w-40 synthetic in the engine.

5w-40 engine oil | 5w40 oil

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Red Line and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XF Longlife, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Gulf Formula G, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

You need a 75w-90 for the gearbox, transfer box and diff.

75w-90 Gear Oils for your Car from Opie Oils

If you want to go for the best, the Millers CRX 75w-90 NT, Gulf Competition, Motul Gear 300, Red Line MT90 and Millers TRX are ideal for the gearbox. The Castrol Universal, Motul Motylgear and Fuchs Gear Syn are all decent alternatives. The Fuchs Syn 5, Millers CRX, Redline 75w-90 GL5, Motul Gear 300 and Gulf Competition are ideal for the diff and transfer box. The Fuchs Sintopoid, Castrol Syntrax Longlife, Millers TRX, Motul Motylgear, Mobil SHC and Amsoil FGR are also good choices.

You need an an ATF for the AYC and power steering and I would go for either the Amsoil ATF, Motul Multi ATF, Fuchs ATF4400, Gulf Multi Vehicle ATF, Castrol ATF Multi Vehicle or Millers Millermatic ATF SPIII.

Automatic Transmission Fluid and ATFs from Opie Oils
