oil dip stick, coming out!!!

hello, i have recently bought a evo 4 gsr had it 2 weeks, in that time it has spat its dipstick out twice, not all the way but far enough to make a good old mess!!
anyone else had this problem?
also top end knock when starting from cold, quietens down abit when warmed up, but still loud enough to annoy, researched on net and found the tappets are a common fault, planning on changing them in very near future but would like to know what else it could be, so could replace aswell while there.
any help appreciated. thanks

Afraid that doesnt sound too healthy. Id start with a compression and leak test and a prayer...

oh dear! still running mint, very responsive and smooth running. i did think it could be the wrong dipstick (the tops white and has engine wrote on it) with it being jap thought it wouldnt have english writing. thats not the reply i was hoping for.

Id still be looking to get it tested but fingers crossed its ok.

And do you mean dipstick or the filler cap?

It seems that this dip stick shooting out is as common a problem as the tappets.
what is a common cure to this is a tiny crimp to the top of dip stick inlet so that the dip stick rubber is fully wedged in when you push it down.

with regards to the tappets and the quietening down a bit after it has warmed up, does the knocking stay the same amount or get suppressed by the engine sound when you rev to 2000 rpm's or does it get loaded too???
