Oil change guide

A quick guide to an easy oil change!

1. Start the car and run for 10 mins at idle.
2. Undo the sump nut (17mm off the top of my head)
3. Drain oil. (make sure you have enough space for 7L of oil - there isnt 7L but it gives some room to not spill )
4. Once oil is drained remove filter by unscrewing counter clockwise. Tip: screwdrives stuck through can help if its very tight and you dont have the proper tools (which are a couple of quid so buy one!). Be prepaird for oil to dribble out of here.
5. Fill new filter with new oil.
6. Put the new filter in remembering to put a film of oil on the rubber seal on the oil filter to ensure it seals. Remember tights tight and bust is fooked.
7. Clean sump plug. Replace (often a good idea to use a new copper washer too) and again dont over tighten!
8. Fill with oil to dipstick indicated level.
9. Run car and check for leaks.
10. Check and top up (oil always finds hidey holes)

Hi - I find it easier to remove the drivers side front wheel when doing an oil change. You then have the sump plug and filter right in front of you instead of having to get under the car.

Always go for an OEM spec and approved filter.

Thanks for the link but it only states Evo 8/9 oil filter, will they fit my 4?

Arrived yesterday, and fitted today

Gotta say it has been the easiest oil/filter change ive ever done on a motor and ive owned/ Fords/Vauxhalls/Renaults/BMWs etc

Easy access to sump plug and Filter gotta love Evos
