Oil was filthy and when emptied the oil from the bucket there were one or two metal filings very very small and fine.

Is that normal?

Oil is ment to be black as its leaving the car as thats all the carbon build up collected through the engine, small shavings can mean nothing but depends on how old the car is the oil has been in there, the better brands of oil are high in zinc and actually have streaks in the oil when you drain it,

Post a pic up of the small filings you have and tell us if its magnetic or not. Alot of the time thought its just stuff being flushed around the system or burs from the head area,

Also cut open your oil fikter to see whats in side aswell

Swarf in the oil is a concern to be honest, if you have dropped the oil and changed the filter just cross your fingers that no real damage was done and some high grade oil should see you right, without pulling the sump off and inspecting you won't know so I say hope for the best. Is car running ok? No knocking?

No knocking or anything. I drained the oil real hot jacked it from one side to the other to drain all the oil from all angles and put 5w 40 fully synthetic oil into it.
