I was thinking could be coil packs breaking up when hot. Not sure how common this is. Will get it plugged in to see for errors. Its almost like its premature combustion

there not common togo but u could say that about alot of parts on the evo ive had parts that a common togo and not had a problem ect with i no it sounds harsh but just pick of the draw kinda thing. If u no any one u could lend a set off to just try b for u splash out on a new set :)
Also it might even be lamba sensor

One of my friends had both lamba sensors go down on his cupra r and on cold start up she ran fine but soon as it started to warm up miss firing to hell

Sounds like a maf problem, I forgot to plug mine in once and it sounded like it was missfiring and spluttering. Might just be coincidental that it happened at same time but worth a check, try unplugging it and if it makes very little or no difference that may be your prob

:hm: no it sounds really simple but have u tried reseting the ecu? something as simple as that as sorted alot of evo owners problems out.

Disconnect battery for 10mins, reconnect battery start the car with nothing turned on and let idle for 10-15mins then turn everything on lights heaters window heaters radio ect and leave for another 10-15mins worth a try m8 u never no

by disconnecting the battery it puts the ecu in to a re-learn mode ect eg idle speed, thottle postion ect ect so worth a try m8 wont cost nothing apart from running the car for abit on idle :)

just follow the steps above m8 worth a try mukka

craig

ahhh just read above, there are to many craigs around lol, both are worth a try m8 :)

I did have a problem with the vac pipe to the wastegate actuator. The previous owner fitted a alloy rad and a forge actuator, badly. What happened was that the fan cowling rubbed the vac pipe and cut through it. I have replaced the pipe. I do need to repostion the actuator so the pipe is pointing away from the cowling.

I just want to sort it as cant be dealing with a melted piston

and deffo no air/boost leaks? At all? easy way to check if no smoke test machine get some washing up liquid and water in a bottle and spray all the vac pipes boost pipes ect ect :)

Yeah pipes all on.
Will have a look on weekend at hoses. Dont think there is any but will give it a closer inspection. Would a broken recirc valve give me this problem.

when u say giving u problems what do u mean by that?
if its leaking sticking, take it off plug both of the pipes up and try that also

What I mean is that it was drivng ok till I put normal fuel in it. I felt it had a fault after and found the cut pipe. When you say unplug both ends what do you mean?

Well, its had new coil packs and its better. The recirc valve is better too .

Unfortunately., there is a but........
On occasions while boosting it feels like the engine brakes then carrys on after?
Any ideas.
