Come off the Motorway today. come to the light dropped down to fourth and that was it. Gear stick can only travel forward and backward without resistance. thought the gearbox had gone. hazard light on and everything else. Got my son out of the car and called the police. couple of other motorist had asked if I needed help. that was rather nice, then a evo 9 pull up who offered to take me to my destination( if you on here mate Thanks for that....) RAC was coming out to me within 45 mins.
Anyway during this time I had look and I could see the split pin which hold the gear cable had come off the clutch linkage. what a relief that was. RAC came and 5 minutes he was gone and so was I.
This is the second time that had happened to me. the last time in my other car 10 years ago.
