Hello guys! I may be in the market for an evo as after years of bmw m3 ownership and a mates recent purchase of an animal R33 GTR I found that I need boost in my life!!!

As above I need an idiots guide on the difference of the models like the FQs, spec and lastly and be honest please lol the reliability of these?? Once you start running big bhp!!

I have been pointed in the direction of supras and skylines but I have my eyes on evo 8 & 9s... Any advice appreciated!!

Thanks in advance

Chris

History and genuine receipts are a must with these things! Look at as many as you can and make sure you go on at least a 15 test drive.

Well I'd like to tune one to 500bhp but what base model should I go for? And then I'm faced with either evo 8 or evo 9!! I've read the 6speed in the 9 is problematic!!

To get 500 BHP you are looking at alot of money and heart ache!

Lol why do you say that mate?? Also are the FQs the models with forged engines?

Supamario says that because 500bhp will mean

A fully forged engine build not to mention things like clutches and brakes.

It would be the MR models I'd look at, not massively up on the newer engines, they are stronger than the 5 and 6 engines but I'm pretty sure they would go bang at 500bhp

Rod jobs are probably the way to go, but it can be a slippery slope. Which ends in an engine build

400/400 is a good first target by that time you'll know what needs doing to get 500 ;)
