I take it this thread is really around people being scammed and ripped off. I know i'm new here and i can see you are trying to sort out this small and annoying dilemma.

This might be a quick stop gap, that i have seen used before with a safe out come, that is you use Ebay, but with a twist. You put it up on the forum, and if any body is intrested you then log it on ebay, mis spelling the item name (so no one else can find it easily and buy) then you PM the buyer with the Ebay number of said item with click to buy rather than auction, then you take it through the normal channels on ebay and everyone is protected. Both seller and buyer. Understand i've seen this as a quick stop gap intill a good one is put into place on the forum. Hope this helps you out, if i've misunderstand and wrote this drivel for nothin i do apolagise!!!!! ha plus i'll sit in the corner

No need to sit in the corner buddy, unless you really want to:D

Your input is appreciated and I would like to hear about any other ideas you have on this topic if any spring to mind.

As for your current suggestion:

It is a known system that I had been a part of on another Forum many years back but it is still not fool proof as quite a few members had been ripped off whilst this system was in place on that Forum.

A couple of members over here have fallen prey to egayers too to a total of a couple of grand very recently. One of the rogue sellers on egay was also a member of this Forum and the MLR. He had ripped off many an MLR member over there too, I estimate he took well over 5k from them.

Egay offers little protection and now they prefer you to open a case that closes within a short window of time leaving you out of pocket unless you escalated the case within the first 14 days.

Add to that, if your case drags on, by the time it is resolved you have missed the 28 days deadline to leave feedback so it is getting harder over there to protect yourselves too:confused:

This is a delicate issue that requires many a members point of view to arrive at a solution that will best suit every one involved.

The reason members and guests trawl the for sale ads in various Forums is because they think they will get a genuine deal from a genuine seller which is why they visit the ads in the first place.

This is what I want them to get too and what we should all work towards perfecting right here.
