Newbie with a few questions

Hi Guys

Just bought my first evo and its an 8 with alot of 9 parts and want to confirm and ask a few things..... Any help appreciated!

1. Confirmation of model as i am unsure as it has alot of evo 9 parts. I think the car is an import it has a 5 speed gear box, rear wiper, brake light in rear window, says evolution viii on beside the gear stick and has a ACD button on the right hand side of the dash....... Any thoughts?

2. Car has all 3 lights (Tarmac, snow and gravel) lite up at same time so i assume there is a fault? I did see under the car at the rear a set of connector blocks which have been disconnected, could this be the problem?

3. Rear fog light button in car, i switch it the light on the dash comes on but bo light at the back, there is evo 9 gt rear lights fitted.

Hello and welcome along pal. Sounds like you have a gsr. The disconnected pipes at the back will be the ayc pipes get it checked ASAP yes there is a fault if all 3 are lit up, and there should be a fog light randomly on the rear bumper. The ayc is the major part as could be a quick cheap fix or a load of monies

iv got a gsr and it dont have a rear wiper or brake light in the rear window, were id=s the plaque infront of the gearstick or behind it?

Its not a pipe, its like a muliti pin electrical connector(male & female end) , would you recommend joining them together to see what happens?

There is no fog light in mounted in the bumper, i will get a better look tomorrow in daylight and trace the cable to see where it goes from the switch!

5 speed is a gsr, if it was an fq for example it would have a number on the plaque by the gearstick. Yh connect it, dnt turn the ignition on, disconnect the earth from battery for 5 mins to reset faults and re connect if all light up again there is a fault you can bridge the pins and flash the fault out but not sure which ones

well by the looks of things a uk version, because i know by experience of owning Subaru's the imports have more power and a rear wiper,
and yeah the will just have the plaque in front of the gearstick with the word evolution and the number next to it wheres the FQ has the word FQ and the number next to it:razz:

easyest way is to get loads of piccies up and let people tell you if your unsure

Fq number is behind the gear stick and would either say fq or fq mr and then a build number..you would know if it was there.. Only top model not to have this is the rs mind but then you would have windy windows, manual mirrors and no acd to name a few things..

Another check.. Where are your air con controls? They on the centre console with the CD player? Or in a slot below?

All acd lights up is bad news and like Craig said you need to check for the fault code

Yeah bridge pins 1+4 with a paper clip to get the fault code

Do I link the pins out at the connector block or where do I do this?

Is the import GSR model any good is my next question? Lol it's the way the car looks attracted me to it!

have you tried typing you reg number in on the vehicle inquiary section on the dierct gov website ?

no mate the import are 280bhp and the uk version is 260bhp but correct me if im wrong.

if you look under were your left knee would be if your sat in the drivers seat, theres a black box and a white one, its the black box your after

and all evos are good just different spec and things

It's 2004 and the reg is brz 9808

Yea that plate won't work with dvla.

It being a 2004 makes it an Evo 8

Search on here, there is a thread called model differences. That should help you decide what model it is

ok cool so it makes it from northern Ireland than? or is that another type of reg in the UK?
