Hello guys, I have recently acquired an evo 4 and have a few questions for you fine gentlemen.
1. It may sound stupid but the car has had a lot of mods and i have unfortunately not been told about most of them, how can i tell which ECU is installed? It has an evo 6 engine so does this mean it automatically needs a 6 ECU?
2. I hear i need to run it on super unleaded, is this true or just a precaution?
3. From my research it seems that i dont really need to use the turbo timer providing i give it a couple of minutes of easy driving (no turbo use) at the end of my trip. Is this true or would it be best to use the timer?
4. NOOB QUESTION ALERT- My boost gauge will flash a red light at the peak of the turbo kicking in(i imagine this means i need to let off slightly),this naturally happens every time i put my foot to the floor so is it safe to do so on a regular basis or would it be best to refrain from maxing out the turbo? (i.e dont push foot all the way to the floor, try and boost till just before light comes on).
5. Which components should i check to see if they have been upgraded? I imagine there are a few bits that get done first. I would also need descriptions of where these are located and what differences would be between the standard and upgraded versions.
Thanks for the help guys and apologies for the idiotic questions, first time with a turbo vehicle so new to the whole thing.
