I'm wondering if it could be a bearing issue in both of your cases, do either of you cycle? When a bottom bracket bearing goes it can creak in a very noticebale way. Are your diffs making a similar sort of noise? If this is the case and the actualy gear etc are fine, it may not require a complete replacement. Glad to hear you are enjoying your car dan!
