Hi there all,
I've just joined the forum, in search of some advice.
I'm in a posiiton to buy my first Evo after having other performance vehicles, and I'm wondering which model to get.
I've spoken to numerous dealers and the general feel is that there are deals to be done on ex-demos but not on new.
The only firm decision I have made is that I want to go for the GSR not the GS as i like the extras that the GSR gives.
The question I'm not sure about is whether to go for the 300, 330 or the 360.
The money aspect isn't really a big issue, I just want best value for money. My top budget has to be around £35k but obviously the least amount I have to spend would be better.
The best deal I've been offered was a 300 GSR for about £24k with 5k on the clock. On a 360, the best offer was about £28k similar mileage. (bearing in mind that this would be a straight cash purchase with no PX) I've even thought about the upcoming 400 but at £55k its too much really, I just cannot justify that expense, besides, what are they going to be worth in a years time? Probably half!
I'm a bit wary about buying new, as in Glass's guide the residuals on the 8's and 9's look horrendous, I intend on keeping the car for 3 years and approx 40k on the clock at the end of that, so I know I'm gonna take a bit of a hit, but I don't want to get skinned alive really!!!
After spending hours on the net looking for advice, I came across this forum.
I don't know whether to get the 300 at a reasonable price and then spend a couple of k on it 6 months down the line, or just go straight for the 360 in the first place. My local dealer I have used for years (going back to the 80's) and they are not too worried regarding warranties, as long as it's not been abused they will help.
I've had a 330 on a full day demo and it was wick. It's the nearest thing I've bee in to a sportsbike, the power was addictive. Is there a big difference on the 360?
Insurance wise, it starts at £500 for the 300 going to £650 for the 360 so that's not a big issue really, I'm just trying to work out which is the best bang for your buck so to speak!
I hope this all makes sense and doesn't just come across as mad rambling; I'm just trying to type what comes into my head about it! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
