Hi all, new to owning an evo.....wanted one for years but could never afford one! But eventually i got there ha ha
anyway im after doin a few upgrades to make it faster! :) its a 55 plate evo 8 gsr 260. Previous owner "told" me (no printout) that it was running roughly 320bhp but have no proof, so i just took it as standard....
What upgrades can i do what wont cost the earth...want it remapping but want to get the most out of it, its got a sports cat on but just ordered a decat, its got an apexi air filter, 3" exhaust as far as you can see and a front mount intercooler but i dont know if its standard... Any help would be appreciated... thanks andy

Why not drive it first, get used to it,then think about upgrades?

Loads can be done to the 260. Chuck a set of 272 cams in, change the hotside on the turbo for a 10.5 and a 3" downpipe back exhaust and say hello to 410/420

When you say just change the hot side of the turbo do you mean just the exhaust side? And would it not be better with a whole bigger turbo? :D ha ha

No not really as it's plenty efficient enough for that power. My mates is only running 1.70 bar at that power :)

The prefered choice are kelfords. As they give good performance gains, idle and drivability. But do some research for opinions.
With the cosworth m2 cams I'd fit uprated springs as they have a high lift rate.

It's hard to say. Some suggest that all 272 rated cams should have uprated springs. Some suggest it's a matter of course to change springs dependent on mileage. Most others that don't need uprated springs are around 10.5-10.8. It doesn't seem much but...
There are however opinions that running the high lift cams are still ok on std springs. Just so long as your not running to redline continuously lol

Kelford 272 cams £500 New
8mr headgasket £40
Bolts you might aswell uprate to arp £115
Other gaskets of original multi layer metal would probably be ok
