Hello, whilst I have lurked for some time I have not posted anything and that's bad.
Im Chris (also known as CHRISN on MLR) and based in Hampshire near Southampton.
I'm the owner of an Evo 5 which I purchased (well swapped) early summer. The car had started to have a 2.3 stroker build - basically all the bottom end with Kelford 272s, but everything else standard (springs, pulleys, turbo)....
Like all EVO ownership I soon learned that its a bumpy ride (but worth it due to the smiles the car gives you) as I suffered from low oil pressure. I decided to strip the engine as its something I have always wanted to do. With the help of a local garage I have done exactly that. We found that the balance shaft removal had not been done correctly (one of the bearings not turned leaving the oil gulley to push oil and subsequently drop the pressure). A couple of other bits noted and rectified, but the engine has been rebuilt with uprated parts, retainers, lifters and pulleys. I have a few other things to go on (1000 injectors) etc. and I am still awaiting the engine to go back into the car (hopefully sometime in the next few days)... then i can get back to the open ride and some track days next year....
Bit about me - IT Bod (own company developing native iOS applications).... but have general software dev and highly bespoke web-development stuff also...
Cheers
Chris
